Somehow, we’ve equated being busy with “making it” and “success”. We, as a society and culture, admire the person who rushes into a room, does a task, then rushes out of the room and onto their next meeting all day, every day.

Wow, we think, that person is so busy that they must be really important!

But, that’s not healthy. Or successful. Or enjoyable. Busy shouldn’t be worn like a badge of honor or pride; busy means that you’re maxed out and don’t have time for other things in your life.

Ask yourself this: Am I busy because I need to be? What am I doing that I don’t need to do? What work am I unnecessarily creating for myself?

When you’re really busy, you should make busy count. Don’t do it just because you can or it’s expected of you.
